Reader Setups (Show Us Your Coffee Bar)

This page is where Barista Life readers show off the corner of the kitchen (or closet, or garage, or van) where the coffee happens. Real setups, real budgets, real compromises. Send yours in, and every month we feature the best submissions right here with full credit.

How to get featured

Send us your setup in three parts

  1. A photo of your coffee bar, station, cart, or counter corner. Phone photo is fine; daylight helps.
  2. Your gear list: what is in the picture, roughly what it cost if you remember, and what came secondhand.
  3. One lesson learned: the thing you wish someone had told you before you built it.

Send it through the contact page with the subject line "My setup". That subject line is how we find you, so do not get creative with it. Get creative with the coffee bar instead.

Submit your setup

The deal, stated plainly

Each month we pick the featured setups from that inbox and publish them on this page: your photo, your gear list, your lesson, your first name or handle, and a link to your Instagram or site if you want one. Featured readers also get a shop credit note from us, which converts to real store credit the day the Barista Life register opens (the shop is being rebuilt; we would rather owe you honestly than gift you vaporware). By submitting you confirm the photo is yours and you are fine with us publishing it on this page and crediting you the way you ask.

What makes a good submission

We love We skip
Small spaces solved cleverly: carts, shelves, rented kitchens Photos of gear still in boxes
Honest budgets, including the secondhand wins Screenshots of other people's setups
The workflow story: where the cup goes, where the knock box hides Gear lists with no photo
The lesson learned, especially the expensive ones Anything with a visible address or personal info (crop it out)

You do not need an expensive setup. A $60 corner that pulls a great cup beats a $6,000 shrine that never gets used, and we will feature it exactly that gladly. If you want ideas before you shoot, the setup guides below are where most reader builds start.

Featured setups

The open call is live and the gallery is empty, which means the first feature slot is sitting right here. No fake entries, no stock photos pretending to be readers. Send yours through the contact page with subject "My setup" and be the setup everyone after you has to beat.

Build a setup worth photographing

And if the setup exists but the skills lag behind it, the free 30-Day Brew Challenge is one ten-minute task a day until the gear stops being decoration.
