The DESCALE light on a Ninja Luxe Cafe means you must run a descale cycle, and the official owner's guide does not soften it: skip the cycle and drink quality drops, and the machine may clog and stop working. - Empty the main drip tray completely; the cycle deposits water there and a full tray overflows.
- Dissolve the provided Ninja descale powder in a separate container with 37 fl oz of water and pour it into the reservoir, or use 16 oz of white vinegar topped to the descale line with water. Remove the water filter first if you use one.
- Insert the double basket into the portafilter and fasten it into the group head.
- Put the milk jug on its platform with the steam wand inside, and an empty cup of at least 18 oz under the portafilter.
- Press the DESCALE button, then the center dial. The machine flushes solution through the steam wand and portafilter for about 90 minutes, counting down on the panel, and beeps when done.
- Hand-wash the portafilter, drip tray and jug, refill the reservoir to Max Fill, then flush: run a 12 oz CLASSIC brew, and purge the steam wand with the jug removed.
